Two bank entries for a food app: check authorization and charge separately
Match pending and posted bank entries against Google Play order history before deciding whether a food-app purchase was charged twice.
Two entries for the same amount do not, by themselves, establish two completed purchases. To investigate a food-app payment billed through Google Play, compare the bank's transaction status with the store's order record. Keep any entry you cannot match unresolved.
Build two short lists
First, privately record each bank entry's date, amount, currency and exact status. “Pending” and “posted” are different observations. Second, find the purchase confirmation and order history in the Google Account that actually bought the app or subscription. Do not put card numbers, order identifiers or screenshots into public comments.
Google's order-history instructions describe the Play Store profile menu, Payments & subscriptions and Budget & history. Labels can vary with version and language. Other Google payments may appear in the payments center instead of Play history, so an empty Play list is not proof that every Google-related bank entry is invalid.
A fictional reconciliation
| Record | Observed state | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Bank entry A | Same amount; pending | An unsettled entry exists |
| Bank entry B | Same amount; posted | A settled entry exists |
| Correct Play account | One completed order found | One order found in that account |
In this teaching example, the three records do not establish two completed orders. They also do not prove what entry A represents. The next question is whether the bank identifies it as an authorization corresponding to the purchase, not whether the amounts happen to match.
Google distinguishes authorizations from charges: a pending authorization can check that a card is valid and has funds. Its disappearance depends on the bank. Google currently describes a possible 1–14-business-day period and directs users to their bank if an authorization remains after that period. This general explanation cannot classify an individual entry without its records.
Escalate the mismatch you actually have
If both entries are posted, both have completed orders, or an entry is unrecognized, use official Google Play or bank support with the private evidence. Say which account and history you checked. Do not repeat the purchase to test whether it works, and do not assume an unfamiliar charge is harmless while waiting.
