Select one label photo with Android Photo Picker

Use a selected-media workflow to check the exact image being shared, with app and Android-version limits kept explicit.

If your task needs one package image, check whether the app offers Android's Photo Picker. A selected-media workflow lets you make the image choice explicitly instead of treating the entire gallery as the input. Availability depends on the app's integration and the device software.

Check which picker is actually open

Google's Photo Picker instructions describe single-selection and multiple-selection modes. Some steps require Android 13 or later. The app controls aspects of the experience, including whether browsing other providers is available. These instructions do not establish that the current Ingredi version uses this picker.

In the documented workflow, you open an app's image-selection action and choose the desired photo. A long press can show a full-size preview. In multiple-selection mode, View selected lets you inspect the chosen set before adding it. Google states that the app can access the media selected through the picker.

Prepare a deliberate one-image selection

Imagine your recent photos contain two nearly identical cereal boxes and a personal receipt. You need the box with the complete nutrition panel. Open its preview and check the flavour, serving heading and lower edge of the table. A thumbnail alone may not distinguish it from the other box.

  1. Choose the intended image and inspect it at a readable size.
  2. If multiple selection is available, confirm the selected set contains only the intended file.
  3. Deselect the similar box or receipt if either was accidentally included.
  4. Return to the app and inspect the image it actually received before continuing the analysis.

Record the file's neutral name or capture time in your own notes if you need to repeat the task. There is no need to include a person's diagnosis in the filename to identify a food label.

Handle a different screen honestly

If the app opens a custom gallery or asks for broad media permission, do not describe it as the Photo Picker workflow merely because it shows thumbnails. Read that screen's options. You can cancel and check the app's instructions for another supported input method instead of assuming that a selected-only option must exist.

Selecting one file limits this selection; it does not certify what the receiving app does with that file afterward. Previously granted permissions are also a separate matter. Check the actual permission state and privacy information if those affect your decision.

You can download Ingredi AI from Google Play to examine its current input options, or use the App Store listing for iPhone. Review the available features and terms first. No picker integration, upload behaviour or paid entitlement has been tested in this article.
