Test a food app offline with a fresh label, not only a saved result

A controlled offline-use checklist separates fresh inputs, cached results and reconnect behaviour. No Ingredi test results are claimed.

Opening yesterday's result without a signal does not establish that a food app can analyse a new package offline. Test the task you expect to need in the shop, with fresh input and a recorded connection state. The procedure below is a test plan, not a report of measured Ingredi performance.

Define a small test before disconnecting

Choose two ordinary package labels with readable text. Call them A and B in your notes. Use A for a normal connected baseline, recording the device, operating-system version, app version and exact action. Keep B unsubmitted to that app so it can serve as the fresh-input case. Make sure its photo is already available on the device if the test involves importing an image.

Write what counts as completion: for example, a new result appears and a named nutrient and its serving basis can be read. Keep correctness separate from whether a screen opened.

Verify the connection controls

For an iPhone example, Apple explains that Control Center's Wi-Fi button disconnects rather than fully disabling Wi-Fi; Settings provides the full off switch. Apple's cellular-data guide provides the separate cellular-data control. Check both states in Settings and disconnect any other internet connection used by the device. Menu labels depend on software and device configuration.

Do not rely only on an Airplane Mode icon: Wi-Fi can be enabled while that mode is active. Record the actual settings used, and restore your preferred connectivity when the test is finished.

Run separate rows instead of one offline checkbox

TrialQuestionRecord
Previously processed ACan the prior result be reopened?Observed screen or error
Fresh BCan this new input complete the chosen task?Result, waiting state or failure
Reconnect after BDoes anything finish or change?Exact change and time

Set a reasonable waiting period before starting and use it consistently. If A opens but B remains waiting, report those two outcomes separately. Do not convert access to A into a successful fresh-label analysis. Repeat the fresh-input row with another unsubmitted label if the result matters to your purchase decision.

An offline success does not prove that a file is never uploaded later; a failure does not identify which component needed the network. The result applies to the tested version, settings and task.

Download Ingredi AI from the App Store or Google Play if you want to evaluate its current workflow. Check the available access and offer before paying. This article reports no completed Ingredi offline trial.
